About Bainbridge Residency:

The Seventh Wave officially became bicoastal in the fall of 2017, with hopes to expand its residency program to the west coast. Through a happenstance meeting with Steph Jagger, a writer, coach, and world-record breaker (she broke a Guinness World Record for the most vertical feet skied in a single year: 4,161,823 feet, to be exact) and her awesome husband Chris Rutgers, both lovers of story, we were presented with the opportunity to make that hope a reality. In February 2019, The Seventh Wave brought its spirit of collaboration and conversation to Bainbridge Island (just off the coast of Seattle). There, at The Bloedel Bunkhouse, four residents had the chance to create, reflect, converse, and workshop one another’s pieces in order to spark new dialogue surrounding our ninth issue.

This year, we’re excited to offer our second annual Bainbridge Residency once again at the stunning Bloedel Bunkhouse with a new cohort of creatives. If you’re interested in applying, definitely take a look at our Submission Guidelines, as well as our Issue 11 Call for Submissions, both of which you’ll need in order to be a successful applicant.

We are indebted to everyone who helps make our annual residencies possible, most especially Art at the Birches, the sponsor that makes The Crystal Cottage available to The Seventh Wave, and to Steph Jagger and Chris Rutgers, who have graciously welcomed us into The Bloedel Bunkhouse, all entirely free to our residents.
