Issue 4: You Are Politics

On Nov. 8, 2016, we gathered at The West Brooklyn to watch the unfolding of the 2016 Presidential Election. In just about every major news outlet, this sort of viewing party was ill-advised: the election season had been so heated, and November 8 was set to be a historic day regardless of outcome, that most communities feared the possibility of violence. But our beat has always been to exist in the spaces “in between” us. And so we watched as one state after another turned red, having bone-deep conversations with total strangers. We thank The West, Brooklyn for opening up their doors to our community and everyone else who sought the intimacy of public spaces that evening.
